Group Chat
The group chat lets you chat with an unlimited number of peers at once. Anyone running PeerAware can start their own chat group and invite friends to connect.
Chat History
Chat history for the last month is available in the group chat window. It helps keep track of discussions for users who collaborate across different time-zones and locations.
One-on-One Chat
PeerAware supports one-on-one chats when privacy is required.
Emoticons
Graphical emoticons can be used to spice up the chat. 6 different emoticons are available.
File sharing
Share files directly from your hard drive
PeerAware allows you to share files without limitations to file type or size. Shared files are indexed by a search engine to help team members find your documents.
Monitors Shared Folders
Shared folders are continuously monitored for additions and updates. Updated files are re-indexed and the search engine is always kept up to date.
Search
Built-in search engine
PeerAware has a powerful internal search engine that indexes shared files. The contents of word, powerpoint, excel, pdf and media files are supported.
Advanced Parameters
PeerAware allows you to limit your search to files of a specified document type, or filter according to upper or lower size limit.
Distributed Search
PeerAware lets users search the documents shared by every team member at once. Everyone contributes with their top 10 results in one search result list.
iFilter Support
PeerAware supports iFilter technology. This allows installed programs to add support for indexing their data files.
Browse
Browse shared folders
You can browse any folder explicitly shared by team members in the group chat workspace. Initiate from the workspace user list or browse directly into a search result folder
Photo Slideshow
Shared images can be displayed in a slideshow.
Download files and folders
Files and folders can be selected for download from within the browse window. Folders will keep the directory structure after download.
View Files
Files supported by your browser can be displayed directly in the browse window.

Favorite workgroups can be bookmarked and listed on the startpage.
Global Workgroup Directory
For workgroups which anyone should be able to connect to there is a global directoy which all PeerAware users can see.
Reopen Chat Windows from Last Session
PeerAware automatically reopens chat windows from the previous session.
Local Workgroup Service Discovery
Workgroups on the local network can be discovered automatically through UPnP Service Discovery.

Fast Transfers Speeds
PeerAware supports establishing direct connections between peers for maximum performance. Optimal settings are automatically detected and used when transfering files.
UPnP Port Opening
PeerAware uses UPnP to open ports in the local firewall automatically. This makes it possible to get the fastest communication speed possible.
Firewall to Firewall Connections
Two users can connect even when both are behind a closed firewall. File transfers can be proxied through the group chat workspace if a direct connection is not available.
Automatic Workspace Discovery
Workspaces running on nearby computers can be discovered automatically through UPnP service discovery functionality. The second a workspace is started it is announced througout the office so that other users can connect.
International
Internation localization
PeerAware is available in six languages. An embedded translation editor is available for users who want to translate the program to other languages.
Unicode support
Because PeerAware supports Unicode, the international encoding standard, you can communicate with users of any nationality, including Asian, European and American.
Operating System Integration
Inline PDF, Word and Excel Viewing
PeerAware integrates with your operating system to display documents inside the browse window. Click a document name as you browse shared folder and it will load and display.
Mail support
Right-click a user name in the group chat member list and select the email menu option. The default mail program will launch and an email can be composed and sent to the user.
